Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 Will Cost $79.99

Mark your calendars. GTA 6 preorders finally go live at midnight local time on June 25.

UPDATE 6/24: Rockstar Games today confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV will cost $79.99 when preorders go live tomorrow. Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, which includes premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action, will be available for $99.99.

Preorders begin at midnight local time on Thursday, June 25, via the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and other retailers. The game launches on Nov. 19, but those who preorder can start preloading it on Nov. 12. The physical version of GTA 6 will be a download code inside a box, Rockstar says.

All preorders placed before Nov. 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and a free month of GTA+.

Original Story 6/18:
Rockstar Games has announced that preorders for its long-delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 will begin on June 25. There’s still no confirmation on the game’s price, but Rockstar’s decision to open preorders suggests the studio is confident about its planned Nov. 19 release date.

"Preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers,” Rockstar tweeted earlier today. The studio also shared the official cover art for the game, which you can download from its dedicated landing page for wallpapers.

GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games in history, but it has been delayed multiple times for unclear reasons. The Nov. 19 release date was confirmed by Rockstar late last year, and at the time, the studio said it was using the extra time to refine the game and meet fan expectations.

The hype around the game has only increased since. So much so that an automotive company has announced an operational shutdown on release day as it doesn’t expect many of its workers to show up.

That said, Rockstar has yet to confirm GTA 6’s price. Bank of America analyst Omar Dessouky told Seeking Alpha last month that it could be priced at $80. Flagship games from other studios are a touch below the same price point, but given the rise in component cost and the reported $1 billion+ budget of the game, high price tags aren't surprising.

That said, Microsoft last year backpedaled on plans to charge $80 for PC and Xbox games.
